Activate Upstate Walk in the Park

Mark your calendars to come to the park and walk with family, friends, and community neighbors on Saturday, May 24th. Activate Upstate will host a Walk in the Park in conjunction with Freedom Weekend Aloft at Heritage Park in Simpsonville, SC. Registration begins at 8:30 am and the walk starts at 9 am. Activate Upstate is partnering with Loaves and Fishes and Harvest Hope Food Bank. Bring a non-perishable food item as your entry fee for the walk and help fight hunger. All walkers will recieve a pedometer and with 10,000 steps a participant may register for a "Family Fun Pack".

Your Activity Goal is to participate in at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity 5 or more days per week. It is important to be physically active on most days of the week.

Activate Laurens County is a FREE year-round healthy living awareness program that targets youth and adult obesity and related diseases. The program encourages participants to accumulate at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity five days per week by completing their daily activity log online.  Participants will receive Healthy Living information about nutrition, exercise and health education weekly on the website.   Participants also take part in weekly and monthly weigh-ins and counseling, as well as attend, “Health Talks,” a series of lectures by wellness and medical experts that focus on topics related to health and wellness. 

Track your progress and that of Laurens county right here!  This website will provide every participant with a confidential login so that they can privately monitor their weight lost and physical activity during the program.  Visit this website often for the latest stats on Laurens’s progress to lose weight and get physically active.
